NAME THAT BOAT?

A Yawl boat has two masts. Divided rigs are used on larger boats to break up the sail plan into small, manageable components. The largest sail that can be handled alone by a normal sailor contains 500-600 square feet of cloth. The main advantage of yawl rig are that the extra sail aft improves directional stability, and it can be lowered quickly and easily when the wind freshens.

WHERE AM I?

Bora Bora is referred to as "The Marvelous Island". The location is 240 kilometers northwest of Tahiti. More than seven million years old, the island is protected by a coral reef with only one navigable inlet. Features include Matira beach and its world-famous lagoon, the principal village of Valtape, across from the inlet, and a 32-kilometer road circling the island.
